Zachery Ty Bryan Career
Prior to his role on Home Improvement, he appeared in Denver print and television advertisements. Then, he appeared at a showcase directed by Peter Sklar in New York City, where a professional talent agent observed him. This, along with his passion in acting, brought him to California, where he was cast as the oldest Taylor child, Brad, on the television sitcom Home Improvement.
His character was notorious for experimenting with different hairstyles and for getting into trouble frequently. On the episode, Jonathan Taylor Thomas portrayed his younger brother Randy. He is one month younger than Thomas.
In 1995, during the middle of Home Improvement, Bryan appeared as Steve on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. After the conclusion of Home Improvement, Bryan made guest appearances on numerous other television series, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2002) as Peter Nicols, Veronica Mars (2005) as Caz Truman, and Shark (2006) as Scott Natterson, as well as an episode of Reading Rainbow.
In addition, he had a surprise appearance on MTV’s I Bet You Will, when he represented himself and battled female convicted convicts in a challenge. In an episode of Touched by an Angel in 2001, he portrayed an ice hockey player. In 2003, he starred on Smallville as Eric Marsh, a high school baseball player who used steroids produced from meteorite rock. After Jonathan Taylor Thomas, he was the second Home Improvement graduate to make a guest appearance on the show.
In 2005, Bryan portrayed Bryan Nolan in the ESPN television film Code Breakers. Bryan has also appeared as a guest star in Cold Case (as a teenage murderer in flashback scenes) and Burn Notice (2008), as a young guy who hires a hitman to kill his stepmother.
In the 1996 Sinbad comedy First Kid, Bryan portrayed the school bully. As Jack Carlisle, he starred in the 1995 film Magic Island and the 1998 television film The Principal Takes a Holiday. He also played Eric in The Rage: Carrie 2 in 1999.
Later, he portrayed Harry Keough, a defender, with Gerard Butler in the 2005 film The Game of Their Lives, also known as The Miracle Match, about the 1950 World Cup upset by the United States. In 2006, he played Clay, a villain, in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and in 2009, he starred in the NBC miniseries Meteor. He also portrayed Thor in the Syfy original movie Thor: Hammer of the Gods. The film was first shown on November 29, 2009.

Brady Quinn, a former NFL quarterback, is Bryan’s cousin. He married Carly Matros in 2007, having met her while attending La Caada High School. He is the father of twin girls born in 2014 (Taylor Simone Bryan and Gemma Rae Bryan) and a daughter born in 2016 (Jordana Nicole Bryan). Bryan announced the birth of their son, Pierce Alexander Bryan, on March 18, 2019. Bryan and Matros ended their 14-year marriage in September of 2020.
After an apparent argument with his girlfriend in their Lane County, Oregon residence in October 2020, Bryan was arrested on multiple charges, including felony strangling, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, and interference with the filing of a police report. Bryan pled guilty to two of the counts in February 2021, while six others were dismissed. Three years of probation, participation in a batterer intervention program, and no contact with the victim were his punishments.
Bryan confirmed his engagement to model Johnnie Faye on November 17, 2021. In April of 2021, Bryan and Faye had their daughter Kennedy Faye Bryan. Bryan and Faye revealed their twin pregnancy at the start of November 2022. It will be Bryan’s second set of twins. They will be his sixth and seventh children.
